The engagement is announced between James, younger son of Mr and Mrs Christopher Elwes, of Compton, Berkshire, and Valerie, daughter of the late Mr Jorge Hauswaldt Rojas and of Mrs Cristina Gama Kedziorek, of Mexico City.
